Following two recent drug-related deaths at a music festival in Portsmouth, LLL is proud to restage this award-winning multimedia production, written & performed by Maggie Sawkins and directed by LLL's Mark C. Hewitt with video sequences by Lewes artist Abigail Norris. Fusing real life testimony with vivid language and evocative film, Zones of Avoidance explores a mother’s quest to understand her daughter’s descent into addiction.

With special aftershow Q&A panel, including former Lewes MP Norman Baker

The uncompromising playwright, poet and artist, Howard Barker, in conversation with LLL’s Artistic Director Mark Hewitt, discusses his journey and development as an artist, his theories of theatre and his bête noires. 

Fourth in a series of events in which locally based artists and writers talk about how and why they ended up doing what they do in the way that they do it.

Poetry Small Group Seminars

Led by Mimi Khalvati.

A popular course of holistic poetry seminars with the emphasis on continuity and developing work in progress. A new season will begin in Autumn 2018. Dates will be announced on this website.

Mimi's courses are aimed at experienced poets and are frequently oversubscribed; however, sometimes there are a couple of places available. Poets interested should contact LLL direct.

Billy Bragg at Penned Up

LLL recently ran its third festival in a prison at HMP Erlestoke in Wiltshire. Guests included Levi Roots and novelist Kit de Waal.
